The Master of Communication Science Study Program of FISIP UNDIP implements a learning outcome-based curriculum designed to develop students’ academic and professional competencies as a whole. This curriculum is divided into two learning approaches, namely By Course and By Research, to accommodate the diverse needs and academic interests of students.
Learning Approach
By Course
This approach requires students to attend lectures with a predetermined curriculum structure. Learning is done classically, complemented by discussions, case studies, and assignments that are relevant to the development of communication science.
By Research
In this approach, students do not attend regular classes, but are required to undergo an intensive mentoring process with a supervisor. The main focus is on the preparation of proposals, research, and thesis writing systematically and independently.
Curriculum Concentration
By Course [Media, Culture, and Society Concentration]
This concentration explores how media shape and are influenced by culture and social structures. Students will study communication theory, media ethics, research methodologies, as well as contemporary issues such as gender and media digitization.
By Course [Strategic Communication Concentration]
This concentration equips students with the skills to design and evaluate communication strategies in organizational, business, and social change contexts. Key focuses include corporate communications, digital marketing, and communications for social change.
By Research
The By Research approach is designed for students who want to focus on developing scientific work from the beginning of their studies. Students will undergo a research process starting from writing conceptual frameworks, research methods, to national and international scientific publications.
