Radio Public Broadcasting Institutions (LPP), in this case RRI and Local Public Broadcasting Institutions (LPPL), must win the competition for the quality of information presented to the public. This must be done because in the current era of mediaformosis, a flood of information was inevitable.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Communication and Information Expert Staff, Dra. R. Niken Widiastuti, M.Si, in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Sinergi LPP dan LPPL dalam Membangun Komunikasi Publik yang Efektif“, on March 16th, 2021 virtually through the zoom meeting at the RRI Semarang’s Auditorium.

The event, which was initiated by the Supervisory Board of the LPP RRI, Hasto Kuncoro, was organized by the LPP RRI in collaboration with the Indonesian Regional Public Radio TV Association (INDONESIAPERSADA.ID). The event was Followed by almost all the LPPL throughout Indonesia from Aceh to Papua, as well as the community leaders in Central Java.

In his explanation, Hasto Kuncoro said that the synergy between LPP and LPPL was very strategic and important in facing the disruption of information. Such as, hoaxes and entertainment information which mostly controled the amount of information presented. Hoax disasters that easily entered the private spaces required the presence of the LPP and the LPPL to present quality information as a counterweight.

Another speaker is a communication expert from Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang, Dr. Lintang Ratri, who reminded the LPPL managers that the frequency used was in the public domain. It was proper that whatever was presented must be for the public interest. Lintang also asked the LPP and LPPL organizers to understand the Government Regulations (PP) 46/2021 concerning the Post, Telecommunications and Broadcasting which was completely different from the Government Regulations (PP) 11/2005.

“The Public Broadcasting Institutions (LPP) and Local Public Broadcasting Institutions (LPPL) must really understand what is meant by the public diction,” said Lintang.

Lintang also said that based on the results of the evaluation of 3 LPPL members of the INDONESIAPERSADA.ID from the content point of view, it could be seen that the dominance of the information came from the government’s perspective. Meanwhile, from the management side, there was no website. So, it would be difficult to access it by mobile.

“The synergy between the LPP and LPPL is questionable, because it cannot be hyperlinked with the RRI website. Especially in terms of the social media management. It still needs a lot of improvement, ”criticized Lintang.

How to build the synergy? Lintang Ratri Rahmiaji said, first we should confirm the position of the public in the local public broadcasting institutions. It was because synergy required one vision.

“Technically, the strategy can  be carried out through content collaboration or program exchange among the LPPLs. Building synergy ould also be done through the audience surveys,” he concluded, closing the discussion.
