SEMARANG – The Covid-19 Handling Task Force Volunteer Team  initiated the Food Security program, namely the two packages containing 200 packages of catfish in buckets and 200 packages of vegetable seeds in planting media that can be carried out in narrow land for 400 beneficiaries or families that are economically affected due to the Covid -19, on Friday (25/9/2020) in two areas, namely the Batik Village, Rejomulyo Village, East Semarang District and RW 3, Krapyak Village, West Semarang District.

In distributing the packages, the Semarang Volunteer Team also collaborated with the Community Service Team of the Department of Communication, FISIP Undip, namely Dr. Lintang Ratri Rahmiaji, Dr. Turnomo Rahardjo, and Dr. Hapsari Dwiningtyas. The delivery of the Food Security assistance package in Semarang had started on September 25th, 2020 and will gradually be completed until the early October 2020.

“We give a package of catfish in a bucket to a family. There are 50 fishes in one bucket and 6 kg of catfish feed, ” said Sri Rahayu, Semarang Coordinator for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Volunteer Team.

Hendrar Prihadi appreciated the food security program because it had been given directly per family. So that, later we might know which families would take care of it seriously and get its benefit. He told the residents that the end of the Covid-19 pandemic was not yet known, but we should not be afraid to move as long as we were always careful.

The Food Security Program of the Volunteer Team aimed to help the people who were economically affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Through this program, it was expected that the beneficiaries would get a “hook” so that they might continue to “catch the fish”. This program was also expected to maintain the adequate nutrition for the affected communities.

“The Food Security Program will also be carried out in several cities / regencies in Central Java, apart from Semarang City, namely in the districts of Semarang, Salatiga, Magelang, Solo, Wonogiri and Tegal. This program  is an initiation. Henceforth, we hope it will be carried out by each region, ” said Solahuddin Aly, the Central Java Coordinator of the Covid-19 Task Force Volunteer Team.
